World Competitions, Part 1

Apr 30, 2011   //   by sam   //   Blogs, Robot & Team  //  No Comments

Here is the first update from the World Competitions! I would like to say that our practice field is going very well! We have had many teams that have come to use the field, and many people that have thanked us for using the field. We are very happy that people have been able to use the field, and have gotten use from the field. There wer 19 FTC teams the used the field, thats 15% of the teams! (Oh…and one FLL Israeli team). We would like to thank the teams that came to use the field, and we are happy that they were able to use the field: teams 3509, 3748, 2827, 1002, 4442, 3785, 4392, 527, 4076, 14400, 506, 3705, 2844, 3768, 2859, 3123, 31, 178 ,577, 2875. Also, the winning alliance had time to practice on our field, helping them work together and practice for the final round on Saturday! We hope that next year we might have more than one FTC practice field, and maybe some FLL fields to help out the Middles School teams. Next year (hopefully) we will have a better method to have people sign up for the practice field, even if there are more than one FTC field. Awards Ceremony coming up soon!

RobotC Q&A

Apr 26, 2011   //   by sam   //   Blogs, Outreach & Media  //  No Comments

Hello to all teams going (or gone) to St. Louis! Our team, R.A.B.B.I., is holding a RobotC Q&A session with Xander Soldat, the maker of the RobotC driver suite. You will be able to ask him questions regarding sensors, and robotC in general. Xander will also announce his newest driver suite, coming out sometime in the coming months. We will also (hopefully) have a representative from RobotC attending the event. Before the RobotC Q&A we will have a Samantha help session, and then an advanced RobotC + NXT coures. All of these events will be held at the Hilton Hotel who have graciously donated a conference room. For more information check out the RobotC blog. Hope to see you there!

Last day!

Apr 23, 2011   //   by sam   //   Blogs, Robot & Team  //  No Comments

It is the last day before the robot leaves to St. Louis, and we are working frantically at robot central. First, last night we heard that the airport in St. Louis was hit by a Tornado, and that the airport is going to be closed “indefinitely”. We are hoping that this means that the airport will be open by Tuesday. Also, at robot central, we have lost all power and internet. We are running inverters off of batteries (that we will charge later….), and we are using an iPhone to make sure that all computers still have internet access for our SVN. We are keeping our fingers crossed the St. Louis airport will be open so that we can get to the robotics competitions, and that our power comes back on so that we can finish working.
