Sizing Box

All FTC robots must fit inside of an 18″ cube, and the judges put your robot into a 18″ cube once you get to the competition. To make sure that your robot is the correct size, it is very helpful to build a sizing box. Attached is a very simple tutorial on building a sizing box for your team.

Issue: Downloading programs and debugging over bluetooth is awesome. We use it a ton to have our robot drive while giving us sensor information, yet it crashes a lot. (P.S. If you’re in FLL, you ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE BLUETOOTH ON. Just don’t do it. Please.)

PID Controller

Scenario: You have built a robot that has encoder motors on the wheels. You turn on PID control in RobotC to make sure that the motors are spinning at the correct speed, yet when you run your program the robot doesn’t seem to drive at the correct speed, nor does it drive straight.

Issue: Your robot doesn’t drive straight, even though you have PID control turned on.
