Setting up field

Setting up the field

Wow…today was awesome. We broke down our portable field to bring to First night in Boston, and left at around 10:30 in the morning. Surprisingly no one got lost on the way to the Hynes convention center in Boston. We arrived at the convention center, then had to wait around for the loading dock to open to bring in our minivan filed with FTC field parts. The team members went ahead through the main entrance to meet the parents at the loading dock, only to find that it would take us going through nine different people to even get permission to go to the loading dock (we would especially like to thank Team #1 Unlimited’s mentor for helping us get our field). We then set up the field with two other teams; Team Unlimited from Sharon, and Team Weather from Stow. Once the field was setup, it took us another good hour to get the samantha module’s up and running with our router (we’ll post a tutorial about the module at the end of the season for next year rookie teams).

Once we got the modules up and running, we were finally able to have a “scrimmage” for the first time! It’s pretty invigorating trying to control a robot while there are two other robots driving around a 12’x12′ field. After some time of playing around with the wireless driving, we finally decided to actually test our robot out. We were able to easily balance on the bridge, even with another robot, and we were actually able to get batons out of the dispenser without our alignment program running! We were also able to dispence the batons into the flat goals, and we are very close to dispencing into the rolling goals. During our next meeting we’re going to work on a autonomous program that will be able to dispense from any goal, and a program that will find the goals for us during the driven period to make sure that we are aligned properly. There will hopefully be videos posted on our youtube channel tomorrow after our meeting showing how our programs work for the alignment. Good luck building!
T-minus 2 weeks!
